Do I have to be “fit” before I try CrossFit?
No. CrossFit can be modified to accommodate any ability level. The majority of our athletes are here to lose fat and become fit and healthy. We work with everyone from elite athletes to those who have never worked out a day in their life, and everything in between. We scale the weights and intensity to fit each person’s ability.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. We have designed our program to elicit as broad an adaptation response as possible. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. They are cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
The CrossFit Program was developed to enhance an individual’s competency at all physical tasks. Our athletes are trained to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges. This fitness is demanded of military and police personnel, firefighters, and many sports requiring total or complete physical prowess. CrossFit has proven effective in these arenas. www.crossfit.com
Don’t let the word “athlete” scare you away… all of our CrossFitters are considered “athletes”. All CrossFit workouts are 100% scalable which means they are appropriate for anyone of any age and ability level who is looking to become fit. This means you!! You’ll be on your way to a more fit, more energetic, happier, and healthier you in no time! Here at CrossFit Puyallup you will compete only against yourself to improve upon your personal records. This is not a place to bring your ego, CrossFit is a very humbling experience for even the fittest of the fit. We push, praise, and encourage everyone equally, regardless of fitness level. Workout of the Day (W.O.D)
The CrossFit W.O.D. is a group class consisting of constantly varied, high intensity, functional, free weight and body weight exercises, Concept II Rowing Machine intervals, and when weather permits, tire flipping and running/sprinting outside. The majority of our classes are a combination of Strength/Power Training, Metabolic Conditioning and Cardiovascular Fitness. This is a fun, high energy class which, with consistency, will get you fit fast. We do incorporate heavy lifting complexes and 1RM workouts for those looking to significantly increase strength and power and/or who enjoy the sport of Olympic lifting and Power lifting.
